![]() The legal codes of Lübeck and Magdeburg, which were themselves similar, came to govern cities throughout the Hanseatic region. The high courts of the two cities were sometimes used as courts of appeal on judicial issues: legal questions were put to Lübeck and Magdeburg by other cities which had adopted their legal codes.
